Application

Thank you for your interest in joining the Canadian Massage and Acupressure Therapists Association (CMATA).

​

Membership is available to qualified practitioners who meet the Association's educational, professional, and ethical requirements. All applications are subject to review and approval by the Association.

Eligibility Requirements

​

  • Be at least 18 years of age;

  • Have successfully completed a minimum of 1,000 hours of massage therapy education from a Canadian public or private educational institution, or possess equivalent international education and training recognized by the Association;

  • Provide copies of relevant diplomas, certificates, transcripts, or other supporting documentation;

  • Agree to comply with the CMATA Code of Ethics, Scope of Practice, Practice Standards, and Association policies; and

  • Be of good professional character and standing.

Credential Verification

 

To ensure professional standards and public confidence, CMATA reviews each application and may verify:

​

  • Educational credentials and training hours;

  • Identity and supporting documentation;

  • Current or previous membership with professional associations;

  • Professional standing and disciplinary history; and

  • Other qualifications relevant to professional practice.​

 

The Association reserves the right to request additional information or supporting documentation during the review process.

Checklist

  • Download and fill in the application form

  • Two (2) passport-sized photos (50mm wide x 70mm high)

  • Photocopy of one (1) government-issued photo ID (health insurance card, drive license, permanent resident card and/or citizenship document is acceptable)

  • Photocopy of diplomas, certificates, transcripts, or other supporting documentation (documents issued in a language other than English or French must be accompanied by a certified translation)

  • Payment in money order or endorsed cheque (please pay to CATA)

  • Open file: $100

  • Evaluation: $550

  • Annual fee: $250
